2009 Mazda 3 Has Been Spotted
The test mule for the 2009 Mazda 3 has been spotted by the infamous spy photographers and we finally get an idea of what too look forward too. Well at least we can try to use our imaginations as best we can because the automakers took pre-cautions to making sure that the design of the vehicle remained elusive to us.
So while the overall design remains largely hidden, the new 3 is expected to take on a more aggressive and sporty look, similar to the design cues found on the recently unveiled Mazda 6. The new Mazda 3 will ride on the next-generation global Ford Focus C1 platform and is expected to be longer and wider than the current model.
The base model is expected to retain the 2.0L four but will likely see an increase in output. The optional 2.3L four-cylinder will get a bump in displacement, up to 2.5L, which should result in a 20-30 horsepower gain. Two mules were seen, one with single exhaust and one with a dual setup, so look for Mazda to differentiate between the two engines by the number of exhaust outlets. It also remains possible that Mazda could use direct injection on both engines.
