The Ford Mustang is one of the most renowned muscle autos that was ever created. Throughout its lasting history Ford Motor Company has made several renderings of it and produced special versions that have been purchased for thousands of dollars. The entire concept and conception of the car began in 1962 with the introduction of the first generation Ford Mustang.

The first generation Mustang was the dawn of a new era for Ford and for the muscle cars. The model was first shown to the public in 1962 as a two-seater car that was developed with a V4 mid-engine. In October of 1963 the Mustang II was debuted and designed as a four-seater muscle car made with a front engine. This went on sale just six months after. The consumers preferred the appearance that the vehicle had to bring and it did not take long for it to rival that of the Corvette.

The first-gen Mustang was made with the design of a unibody construction and was arranged over a wheelbase that was 108 inches and 181.6 inches long. Ford was pressured to utilize correspondent parts from the Ford Falcon so they could save money. These pieces included the rear suspension and double wishbone coil spring.

Because of this the front section of the car was longer then average and protruded farther into the back giving the vehicle a much longer hood and a lower roof. The figure was employed to save the company money – but in the end it was what made it such a great car and made it unique. Along with this conception the vehicle was fitted with the classic running horse set on the grille and the side scallops connected onto the side of the car.

It was outfitted with a 2.8 liter OHV straight six engine that had the power to thrust out 101 horsepower. Over time it was promoted to the 3.3 liter and then the 4.7 liter – which was able to thrust out 220 HP. The three speed manual transmission was standard with each engine that it was fitted with.

It did not take long for the first-gen Mustang to make an impact on consumers. Throughout Ford Mustang history it has only improved and even now is very common among both the older and younger generation.
